Katz, a partner and leader of the Privacy and Information Security Practice at Nelson Mullins, discuss how a well-developed vendor management program is a critical component to an organization’s risk management program. In the wake of a growing number of data breaches, a vendor management program can reduce the dangers created by third parties who may not be equipped to guard confidential information. The authors write, “Reasonable steps to protect data should include a comprehensive vendor management program that incorporates thorough data security assessments in advance of contract negotiations.”
