In the wake of recent massive data security failures at major retailers, few topics weigh as heavily on the minds of consumers as the privacy and security of their personal information once they have entrusted it to a third party during the course of an electronic transaction. The process of transferring personal data to third parties has become increasingly ubiquitous over the course of recent years, and consumers have accepted, with open arms, the convenience, efficiency and simplicity of the modern electronic transaction process.
