’Ambush’ Election Rule Under Fire, Human Resources Executive
In an article published on July 31, 2017 in Human Resources Executive, Atlanta partner Mark Keenan provides insight on one of three bills currently under review that may potentially change labor policies under the National Labor Relations Act. The Workforce Fairness and Democracy Act, if approved by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, would consequently undo the National Labor Relations Board’s “ambush” elections rule. This rule shortens waiting time for union elections down to at least 10 days, opposing the former month wait, and employers and human resources professionals are hopeful it gets eliminated. Mr. Keenan is confident that the “ambush” rule will find its way to President Donald Trump’s desk but doubts the bill’s importance among other matters, stating, "The biggest issue might be that, with everything else going on -- the healthcare bill, tax reform, and so on -- this bill might not be a priority.” For the full article, you may click here.
