Cory Manning Selected for Riley Institute
Diversity Leaders Initiative

COLUMBIA S.C. (Feb. 14, 2017)–Cory Manning, a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Columbia office, is one of 44 leaders from across the Midlands and surrounding areas selected to participate in the 10th Midlands class of the Riley Institute at Furman’s Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI).

“We are encouraged for the future of this state with the addition of each new class of Fellows because of their commitment to positive change and dedicated efforts to see it through,” said Dr. Don Gordon, executive director of the Riley Institute.

Mr. Manning practices in the areas of corporate investigations, securities litigation, business litigation, and class action defense. He has been with the Firm since 2005. He co-chairs the Firm's Government Investigations and White Collar Defense practice group. He also is an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law and is on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Central Carolina Community Foundation.

Class members meet for five months in a format driven by timely, relevant case studies and other experiential learning tools designed to maximize interactions and productive relationships among program participants. As part of the program, leaders also work in cross-sector groups to respond to real issues and opportunities in their communities through capstone service projects. There are more than 1,700 Riley Fellows from across the state.

Participants reflecting South Carolina’s demographics and representing the corporate, nonprofit, education, faith-based and government sectors are chosen by nomination and application.
