Shane Ramsey Brings Bankruptcy Experience to
Nelson Mullins’ Nashville Office
Nashville (Sept. 6, 2016)–Bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney Shane G. Ramsey has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP as a partner in the Nashville office where he will establish and grow a Tennessee-based bankruptcy practice, in addition to his national practice, to enhance and expand the footprint of the Firm’s existing team. Before joining Nelson Mullins, he was a partner in the New York and Atlanta offices of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, LLP.
Mr. Ramsey focuses his national practice on financial restructuring, bankruptcy, and corporate trust matters. He regularly represents committees of unsecured creditors, indenture trustees, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, bondholders, noteholders, liquidation trustees, plan administrators, disbursing agents, and other entities in bankruptcy reorganizations, liquidation proceedings, and bankruptcy litigation. He serves as coordinator of the Reaffirmation Project, which provides free legal counsel to unrepresented debtors seeking to enter reaffirmation agreements.
The Nelson Mullins Bankruptcy, Restructuring, and Creditors’ Rights Team has more than 30 attorneys who represent clients in bankruptcy and other courts around the country. The attorneys have particular experience representing companies in financial distress, commercial banks, and creditors' committees as well as purchasers of distressed assets.
Mr. Ramsey is actively involved in professional bankruptcy related organizations, serving as education director of the Business Reorganization Committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute, various leadership positions within nextGen Atlanta and nextGen Global of the Turnaround Management Association, and as content director of the Trust Indentures and Indenture Trustees Committee of the American Bar Association.
Mr. Ramsey earned his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from the University of Tampa and his Juris Doctor, with high honors, from Florida State University College of Law. He is admitted in Florida and Georgia. He is not admitted in Tennessee.
