The Feds: Who is Accountable for Managing Cybersecurity Risks?

On May 11, 2017, President Donald Trump signed a Presidential Executive Order entitled Strengthening the Cybersecurity of Federal Networks and Critical Infrastructure (the "Order"). The Order places accountability for managing cybersecurity risk on the agency heads of each of the executive departments and federal agencies within the executive branch of the federal government. The Order aligns the key departments and resources of the federal government to address the cybersecurity of Federal networks; cybersecurity of critical infrastructure; and cybersecurity for the nation.
