Nelson Mullins' Gilroy to Present on Telemedicine Business

Nelson Mullins - Alexis  GilroyWASHINGTON (June 20, 2012) -- Washington partner Alexis Gilroy will present a webinar on “The Corporate Practice of Medicine—Does Business Structure Matter for a Telemedicine Business?” on June 27 at 2:30 EST as part of the American Telemedicine Association's monthly meeting. 

The webinar will identify the state laws and regulations generally known as the "corporate practice of medicine" and how this doctrine can impact certain telemedicine business structures.  Strategies for appropriately structuring telemedicine business given the corporate practice doctrine and practical considerations given the doctrine will also be discussed.

Ms. Gilroy, a leader of the Nelson Mullins E-Health Practice, advises clients, often clients participating in the telemedicine industry, on corporate, transactional, and healthcare matters, including venture equity, financings, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, governance issues, licensing requirements, management arrangements, corporate practice of medicine, and other contractual arrangements. She is a member of the Maryland Rural Healthcare Committee and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Telemedicine Association, the District of Columbia Bar, and the State of Georgia Bar. Ms. Gilroy earned a JD from American University, Washington College of Law, and a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a Morehead Scholar.
