In a BenefitsPRO article published on October 2, Ann Murray and Deborah Hembree provided insight on a new rule from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights’ (HHS) that modifies certain privacy and security protections under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), as well as the new rule’s impact.
“Employer-sponsored group health plans (and their business associates) should take time to understand how the requirements of the HIPAA RHC Rule will affect their operations and begin implementing the required changes,” they explained. “They will also need to be mindful of the state-by-state differences that apply to reproductive health care.
